The ministry had planned to hold board exams twice a year starting in the academic year 2024–25; however, this has been postponed by a year. The new national curriculum framework (NCF), developed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by the national steering company appointed by the Union government and led by former ISRO chairman K Kasturirangan. NCP proposed a semester framework for understudies of classes 11 and 12.
