NEET Cancellation 2024: What is the old matter?
This is from the year 2015. When there was no name of NEET. The national level medical entrance exam for MBBS, BDS admission used to be AIPMT- All India Pre Medical Test. CBSE used to conduct AIPMT.
The news of paper leak was spread. There were allegations that question paper answers were sent to students through electronic devices at many exam centres. Then the examination was held on 3rd May and the results were to come on 5th June. But the court ruled on June 15 that the medical entrance exam should be cancelled and the exam should be taken again in 4 weeks.
On behalf of CBSE, Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar had argued in the top court that ‘only 44 students have been found involved in rigging. For this, 6.3 lakh children cannot be re-examined. On this, the bench of Justice Ake Aggarwal and Justice Amitabh Roy had said – ‘If even one student gets benefited illegally, then the entire exam gets spoiled.’
NEET Re-Exam 2024: Will NEET 2024 exam be held again?
This year more than 24 lakh children appeared in NEET. This is three times more than the 2015 AIPMT. There is also a case of paper leak and the result is also indicating scam in NEET. However, NTA has given its clarification on every allegation. But petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court regarding NEET re-exam. The court has said that the hearing will be held in July. But there is a difference between then and now – the results were withheld then. This time the stay was refused.
What will be the final decision of the court, only the Supreme Court will tell. But looking at the events and timeline so far, cancellation of NEET 2024 seems a bit difficult.
