Candidates interested in pursuing a PhD at the Open University can submit an application at the aforementioned official website.
Subject to submitting an application for PhD admission in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2022, candidates who have a valid UGC NET with JRF or valid UGC NET score in 2024 are eligible. For online applications, there is a one thousand rupee application fee.
IGNOU will reserve 5% of the seats for people with disabilities (with at least 40% disability), but these candidates will not be compared to the appropriate category (Gen/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) that they belong to.
According to the University Grants Commission, JRF-qualified students are accepted into the PhD program based on an interview. The official website stated, “The Candidates with valid UGC NET with JRF will be called for interview, and the interview shall carry 100% weightage.” The research methodology (40 percent), the subject domain (40 percent), and communication skills (20 percent) will all be part of the interview for these candidates.
After selecting the new registration tab, applicants will be required to fill out an application and upload supporting documents. The final PhD admission merit list will be compiled from a combined merit list of JRF candidates and candidates with valid UGC NET scores in categories 2 and 3. According to the website, the final merit list will be discipline-based and based on the merit and reservation policy of the Indian government.
